Real work, real impact. Here are our flagship 2025 initiatives across all thematic areas — from school gardens in Chirundu to tree planting at Chainama Hospital.
In partnership with Good Neighbors and private partners, Zango donated over 600 shoes to vulnerable children and youth in Lusaka and Chirundu District, improving school attendance by ensuring pupils had reliable footwear.
Implemented in Chirundu District, over 100 young children showcased their art skills through painting, gaining confidence and exploring creativity. Artwork sold by the children generated income reinvested into school supplies for their peers.
Zango monitored the construction of a 1×3 classroom block at Namabuyu Community School, funded through the Constituency Development Fund. The school previously operated in a deteriorating thatched structure posing safety risks to learners.
In partnership with Lusaka City Council and supported by Bloomberg, Zango launched the Green Sprout Project — integrating school gardens across Lusaka District. Three gardens were established, training over 100 pupils in gardening and crop management. The project was extended to Chirundu District where 60+ more pupils were trained.
With support from Lusaka City Council, Zango planted trees at various locations across the city. A march past was also held to sensitize communities on the impact of climate change and the importance of afforestation.
Zango led the fruit tree planting initiative at Chainama Hospital where over 100 trees were planted — promoting environmental sustainability while providing nutritional benefit to hospital patients when trees bear fruit. Delivered jointly with VIONET Zambia and Habitat for Humanity Zambia.
Zango children participated in the Children's Climate Action Summit at M'kango Hotel, themed "Securing the Future for Every Child through Climate Action." They showcased the Green Sprout Project to Members of Parliament, the Director of Ministry of Green Economy, International Ambassadors, and CSOs.
A comprehensive girls' mentorship initiative focused on menstrual hygiene, sustainable development, and overall wellbeing. Delivered across Sikoongo Secondary School, Katwezele Community School, Mumbwa Church, and Sunridge School — over 1,000 children and youth were trained and supported with menstrual products.
Zango trained over 60 adolescent girls in the proper use and making of reusable sanitary pads. Graduates are now able to produce and sell pads, generating income for their own sustainability while addressing menstrual hygiene barriers to school attendance.
In conjunction with Good Deeds, Zango delivered a sensitization and lecture session at Chelstone Secondary School on drug abuse — covering the dangers and effects on individuals and the wider community. Over 60 pupils were reached.
Through collaboration with a private citizen and Chirundu Town Council engineers, Zango constructed a solar-powered water pump at Namabuyu Community School — providing clean water access to over 400 direct beneficiaries and 1,500 indirect beneficiaries.
Through a contract with GIZ Zambia, Zango implemented a water and environmental stewardship project in Kanyama Ward 13, engaging schools, WDCs, churches, markets, government ministries, Lusaka City Council, Kanyama Water Trust, and other partners to identify and address water and environmental challenges.
In conjunction with HWPL Zambia and Lusaka City Council, Zango undertook a clean-up campaign in the Lusaka Central Business District. Over 500 individuals and businesses were sensitized on the importance of waste management and keeping the environment clean.
In partnership with Visionary Students Initiative and Youths on Sustainable Development, Zango hosted a Volunteers National Dialogue bringing together the Ministry of Community Development, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, ZAMSOF, and CSOs — aligned with the International Year for Volunteers 2026 declared by the UN General Assembly.
Zango co-organised the IPYG Zambia Youth Leaders Peace Conference under HWPL Zambia, bringing together over 200 youth to share experiences, knowledge, and commitment to youth leadership and peace.
Zango commemorated Good Deeds Day 2025 with children from Nsansa Village — sharing meals and making donations as a commitment to creating an equitable forum for all children to explore their interests and creativity.
In partnership with Young Volunteers for Environment (YVE), Zango hosted a climate change dialogue with Muslim female youth on Climate Emergency Day at the Kanyama Mosque. The discussion covered climate change, environmental protection, and the role citizens play in mitigating its effects.
Young Volunteers for Environment, in collaboration with The IKOE Foundation and Zango, convened a Climate Dialogue with the House of Chiefs — recognising traditional leaders as crucial stakeholders in achieving climate resilience across Zambia.
Zango participated in the launch of the School Health Strategic Plan 2026–2028 by the National CSO Coalition on School Health in Zambia, officiated by Hon Twaambo Mutinta MP. The coalition, supported by Healthy Learners, drives coordinated advocacy for healthier, safer learning environments nationally.
In collaboration with SGS, Zango conducted training sessions for Local Civil Society Organisations on the SDG Toolkit for Southern Africa — enabling 15 CSO representatives to track their progress against the Sustainable Development Goals. The toolkit is being translated into local languages for broader integration.
Expand the Green Sprout Project, scale the Nourish to Flourish program, plant 1,000 trees — support Zango's 2026 priorities.
